Egyptian Social Housing Fund Extends Deadline for Low-Income Housing Reservation Transfers to 31 Oct

Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of Egypt’s Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, has announced an extension of the deadline for reservation transfers for available units under the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” to Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Invest-Gate reports.

This extension was a response to citizens’ requests for more time amid high recent demand, Abdel Hamid said, adding that the offered units are ready for immediate occupancy.

The top official noted that 3,493 transfer requests were received, including 2,285 requests for transfer to October Gardens City and 736 to New October City West.

There are several conditions for the transfer, including not recovering the reservation deposit, not allocating a residential unit to the client before in the same original project applied for, and that the terms of the original unit allocation announcement apply to the client’s request at the time of submission, Abdel Hamid explained.

She confirmed that if requests exceed available units, priority goes first to married applicants with dependents, then married applicants, and finally single applicants – in all cases prioritizing younger ages.

To apply, citizens must visit the website, click “Citizen Service Center,” then “Request to amend residential unit reservation desire” and choose their transfer option.

They must download, edit, and re-upload the form. If approved, they have 15 days to pay a EGP 35 transfer fee at an automated post office.

Abdel Hamid stressed all provisions of Egypt’s 2018 Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Law are applicable, including reservation terms and conditions which are integral for obtaining a housing unit.
