Egypt’s Arab Contractors and Mercons Finalize JV Deal in Angola

Egypt’s Arab Contractors Co. signed an agreement to establish a joint venture called Arab Contractors-Luanda with Angolan firm Mercons, as both countries deepen construction industry cooperation, Invest-Gate reports.

The venture will implement various projects in Angola, Arab Contractors Chairman Ahmed Al-Assar said.

It comes after the recent visit of Angola’s Housing and Infrastructure Minister Carlos Alberto to Cairo at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart Assem El-Gazzar.

Arab Contractors leaders then travelled to Angola for meetings with government agencies and local companies.

The cooperation is slated to include a protocol signing next month during a visit by El-Gazzar to Angola, as agreed on during Alberto’s Cairo trip.

The deal aims to open more business opportunities for Egyptian contractors across Africa, as the Ministry of Housing seeks to build bridges with brotherly nations on the continent.

It’s part of Cairo’s efforts to export construction expertise abroad and pursue growth avenues for firms like Arab Contractors overseas.
