Sayed Ismail, Egypt’s deputy housing minister for infrastructure affairs, met with representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) to discuss advancing the implementation of the Kafr El-Sheikh water sanitation services program, Invest-Gate reports.
The program aims to boost sanitation coverage rates and service quality in the governorate. Representatives from the ministry’s project management unit also attended.
Ismail emphasized development partners’ role in achieving Egypt’s sustainable development and 2030 vision through water and sanitation projects. He called the Kafr El-Sheikh program important for coverage increases and service improvements in line with the presidential decent life initiative.
EIB’s representatives said the project, currently in its first and second phases, aims to enhance sanitation for about 62 rural areas.
Ismail discussed challenges with bank representatives and stressed full ministry support to executive bodies to complete work and meet goals.
The deputy minister directed unit representatives to regularly follow implementation, and evaluate performance through periodic reports.
He proposed a steering committee including ministry, bank and utility company representatives to oversee objectives and timely completion.
