Egypt’s EgyptAir Airlines will resume flights to 24 destinations during the first week of July and will add more in the following weeks, operating at 20-30% capacity, Invest-Gate reports.
The national carrier will operate flights to 13 destinations in Europe, in addition to three and four others in Africa and in the Middle East, respectively. Besides, three cities in North America and one in China are on the list, as highlighted in a press release on June 25.
Likewise, domestic flights to the tourist hotspots of Red Sea’s Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada resorts will restart, together with those of Luxor and Aswan along the Nile River, EgyptAir further noted.
By year-end, EgyptAir can fly with a 50% capacity, providing that COVID-19 cases do not rise, according to a separate statement on June 17.
Meanwhile, the airline is seeking an EGP 3 bn loan to grapple with the Coronavirus woes, which forced Egypt to shutdown airports from mid-March and ground almost all international flights, bringing the country’s tourism and aviation sectors to a grinding halt as a result.
