Egypt’s Urban Inflation Rises to 14.4% in February

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) has reported that the annual headline inflation rate reached 14.4% in February 2019, compared to 12.7% in the prior month, Invest-Gate reports.

The monthly headline urban CPI inflation reached 1.7% in February 2019, compared to 0.6% in January 2019, according to a statement by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on March 10.

Monthly core CPI inflation, computed by CBE, stood at 1.0% in February 2019, compared with 0.4% a month earlier.

In addition, the annual core inflation rate recorded 9.2% in February 2019 versus 8.6% in January.
