Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar has announced that the Capital Park project in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) received the Middle East Sustainable Landscape Award 2023 in the Parks and Recreation category, Invest-Gate reports.

The award was presented by the International Union of Landscape Architects in the Middle East and the Saudi Scientific Society for Environmental Architecture during a ceremony hosted by Landscape Magazine. The event took place on November 15 at the Atlantis Royal Hotel on Jumeirah Island in Dubai.

El-Gazzar highlighted that the awards ceremony included a special recognition for Dar Al-Handasah Company, the firm responsible for designing the Capital Park project. The designers were commended for their utilization of local plants and innovative technologies aimed at protecting the environment and enhancing the well-being of urban communities in the NAC.

El-Gazzar further explained that the Capital Park is the largest central park in the Middle East and the second largest in the world. Stretching over 10 kilometers in length, it covers an area of approximately 1,000 acres.
