Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities arrives in Tanzania to participate in the celebration of the first filling of the reservoir of Julius Nyerere Dam and Hydroelectric Power Station, Invest-Gate reports.
The minister reiterates that the Egyptian government participates in the celebration with the leadership and people of Tanzania.
El-Gazzar notes that the water level at the dam’s lake is expected to reach 163 meters with a volume of 13.5 bn cubic meters in April 2023.
The maximum water level at the lake is forecast to be 184 meters with a volume of 34 bn cubic meters in June 2024, he adds.
The minister notes that the Julius Nyerere project includes building a dam on the Rufiji River with a length of 1,033 meters, a height of 134 meters, and a water storage capacity of around 34 bn cubic meters.
The project also comprises a hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 2,115 MW, El-Gazzar says.
