Assem El-Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has presided over the first meeting of the technical secretariat of a ministerial committee formed by the Prime Minister’s decision to study the implementation of the urban and green building system, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting was attended by representatives from all ministries and member agencies of the committee.
El-Gazzar emphasized the significance of the urbanism and green building concept and its multiple benefits, including environmental, economic, and social advantages. The system aims to promote resource efficiency, provide privacy for citizens, foster compatibility and harmony with the surrounding environment, and preserve it. These efforts contribute to enhancing the quality of life for citizens and reducing their energy consumption expenses, which has positive implications for the country’s economy.
El-Gazzar further highlighted the various initiatives and programs launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which are aligned with the goal of urbanization and green construction. These initiatives and programs are interconnected and can be leveraged to develop a national strategy that enhances and activates the green urbanism and building system. This strategy will be developed within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Strategic Plan for Urban Development.
