El-Gazzar Follows up on Julius Nyerere Dam Project in Tanzania

Essam El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, holds a meeting to receive updates regarding works at Julius Nyerere Dam and Hydroelectric Power Station in Tanzania executed by a consortium of The Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric, Invest-Gate reports.

El-Gazzar stresses that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is periodically following up on the project in the line with Egypt’s interest in African affairs.

The minister notes that the project includes building a dam at a length of 1,025 m and a height of 131 m, while the dam’s lake will have the capacity to store up to 34 bn sqm of water.

It is worth noting that the 2,115 MW Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Station will have the capacity to produce 6,307 MWh annually, which is cover the energy needs of around 17 mn Tanzanian households.
