Assem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, follows up on the executive position of the projects being implemented in different sectors in the new cities of Akhmim and Sohag within the framework of the state’s plan to develop Upper Egypt and provide job opportunities, Invest-Gate reports.

El Gazzar states that 2,736 housing units for low-income “Social Housing” are being implemented in New Akhmim City and 1,008 units in New Sohag City within the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” to provide fine housing for citizens throughout the republic.

Moreover, implementation of Shafa Al-Orman Hospital is underway in New Sohag City on an area of ​​6.6 acres and with a capacity of 263 beds, according to the cooperation protocol signed between the New Urban Communities Authority and the Orman Association and the project implementation rate has reached advanced stages.

Mustafa Hareb Massah, Head of the New Sohag City Development Authority, adds that the implementation of 3 commercial markets as 8 shops is also underway in New Sohag City, in addition to the implementation of (water – drainage – irrigation) networks in the southern expansions, besides the division of the service area in the same area.

Hareb indicates, “the implementation of a double 800 mm water line project with a length of 6250 meters and a double 500 mm diameter water line with a length of 1000 meters is underway to transfer filtered water from the existing purification plant to an area of ​​455 acres, in addition to the implementation of the southern expansion.”

Moreover, the implementation of dualization of the road passing in front of the city leading to the western desert road with a length of 14.5 km and the construction of an asphalt lane for a 9 km extension road with a length of 1.5 km, as well as the implementation of phase II (base layer + asphalt bond layer) for the surrounding roads In the Naheel area with an area of ​​162 acres, and the implementation of the required road inside Sohag University with a length of 700 meters.

In New Akhmim City, a primary school, a pentathlon playground, a commercial market and an administrative commercial building are being implemented and the temporary headquarters of New Akhmim City Development Authority is being completed. Additionally, the city is underway to complete phase I of water, sewage and roads project.
