Egypt’s Minister of Housing Assem El-Gazzar held a meeting on July 11, 2023, to discuss amending the country’s code for civil protection requirements, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting included Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure, Housing, and Construction, and Raafat Shmeis, Head of the Technical Authority for Inspection of Construction, along with representatives from the Ministry of Interior and Civil Protection Department.
El-Gazzar received a brief on Civil Protection representatives detailing obstacles and problems facing the optimal application of civil protection requirements.
He directed officials from the National Center for Housing and Building Research to reconsider procedures to facilitate the practical application of the requirements without compromising public safety.
The goal is to protect lives and property without negatively impacting the quality of the protection system, El-Gazzar emphasized.
At the meeting’s conclusion, the Housing Minister instructed the specialized committee – comprising Civil Protection and National Center representatives – to swiftly prepare the necessary study to discuss and reach a final version of civil protection requirements that achieves the desired goal.
