El Gazzar Inspects Development Projects in Old Cairo

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar has inspected work underway on the comprehensive development project of the historic Ain El Sira Lake, in addition to progress on the renovation of Magra El Oyoun aqueduct, Invest-Gate reports.

While being accompanied by several ministerial officials, El Gazzar urged the acceleration of the 265,000-square-meter development project of Ain El Sira Lake, in addition to landscaping works, in compliance with first-rate international standards, according to an official statement on August 31.

During the site tour, the minister reviewed the latest updates on the refurbishment of neighboring spots in Old Cairo such as the Magra El Oyoun aqueduct renovation project, coming up to provide an array of services to potential visitors and contribute to the growth of inbound tourism as a result.

Upon completion, the Magra El Oyoun area will introduce a wide assortment of restaurants, cafes, bazaars, in addition to a hotel and an open theatre, El Gazzar indicated, stressing that such projects represent a cultural shift in Historic Cairo and will be a prime factor to attracting tourists and exhibiting the capital’s key monuments.
