Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar has inspected the Sheikh Zayed City drinking water purification plant with a capacity of 575,000 cubic meters per day, along with its intake source and the ongoing infrastructure projects in the city, Invest-Gate reports.
He was accompanied by ministry officials, representatives from the New Urban Communities Authority, and officials from Sheikh Zayed and 6th of October cities.
During the tour, El-Gazzar and his entourage examined the various stages of the drinking water purification process at the Sheikh Zayed City plant, ensuring the smooth operation of purification procedures. They also observed the periodic sampling mechanism from the intake and plant networks, examining them at the plant’s central laboratory.
Moreover, El-Gazzar emphasized the critical need to operate, manage, and maintain the Sheikh Zayed City drinking water plant, its intake, and pumps at the highest standards. He stressed the execution of standard maintenance work to preserve the plant components and prolong its lifespan and underscored the importance of coordinating the site’s general layout at the facility.
Additionally, he emphasized the commitment of all personnel involved in the water and sanitation system to safety and occupational health measures to ensure the safety of workers and citizens.
Furthermore, the minister and his team inspected the ongoing infrastructure projects in Sheikh Zayed City, including implementing the water supply line for the expansion area designated by Presidential Decree No. 77 of 2017.
Notably, El-Gazzar highlighted the necessity of adhering to set timelines for completing this project to accelerate the development rates in that area. He directed the head of the Sheikh Zayed City Authority to conduct weekly field follow-ups on the project’s progress until its timely completion.
