Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mostafa have convened an extensive meeting to follow up on the progress of water and sanitation projects in the first phase of the presidential initiative Haya Karima for the development of Egyptian rural areas, Invest-Gate reports.

The initiative is executed by the Ministry of Housing through the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation, using contracting companies affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production.

Both ministers emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of water and sanitation projects within the Haya Karima initiative to provide a decent life for rural residents.

Moreover, El-Gazzar stressed that these projects are among the most significant national endeavors currently underway and must be expedited to provide essential services and improve the lives of millions of Egyptians in rural areas.

Furthermore, the initiative’s first phase includes various development projects across 51 centers in 20 provinces, with multiple government bodies and companies involved in their execution.

Also, Mostafa highlighted the ministry’s commitment to coordinating with the Ministry of Housing to ensure the timely completion of high-quality projects, which aligns with the state’s policy of increasing reliance on local products.

The ministers noted the ministry’s previous accomplishments under the Haya Karima initiative, which encompassed various projects aimed at providing comprehensive services to the most vulnerable segments of society, as directed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Notably, these projects include electrification, water and sanitation infrastructure development, the establishment of veterinary units, provision of household appliances for alternative housing, canal lining, smart meter installations, waste recycling factories, and dairy collection center developments across several provinces.
