El-Gazzar Monitors Renovation Projects in Islamic Cairo, Fatimid Neighborhoods

Assem El-Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has been actively overseeing the execution of projects aimed at renovating Islamic Cairo and the city’s Fatimid neighborhoods, Invest-Gate reports.

These projects are being carried out by the Central Reconstruction Agency through the Islamic Cairo and Fatimid Neighborhoods Renewal Authority.

The objective of these initiatives is to restore, renew, and repurpose the Islamic archaeological facilities and the Fatimid neighborhood, which are known for their remarkable architectural and artistic qualities. The primary goal is to preserve the archaeological heritage of these sites and establish them as significant tourist attractions.

In line with the minister’s directives to closely monitor the progress of the projects, Mahmoud Nassar, the Head of the Central Reconstruction Agency, conducted an inspection visit to the sites where work is being done by the Islamic Cairo and Fatimid Neighborhoods Renewal Authority.

The visit was conducted in coordination with specialists from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Sonia Sharaf, the Head of the Projects Sector at the Central Agency for Reconstruction, accompanied Nassar during the visit, along with Medhat Abdel Rahman, the Head of the Islamic Cairo and Fatimid Neighborhoods Renewal Authority, project officials from the authority, implementing companies, and other consulting offices.
