El-Gazzar Oversees Progress of Fustat Hills Park Project in Cairo Governorate

Assem El-Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has been closely monitoring the progress of the Fustat Hills Park project in Cairo Governorate, Invest-Gate reports.

The park is situated adjacent to the National Museum of Civilization, Ain Al-Sira Lake, the Religious Complex, and Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque. The Central Agency for Reconstruction, under the supervision of the Greater Cairo Reconstruction Authority and with funding from the Urban Development Fund of the Egyptian Cabinet, is responsible for implementing the project.

El-Gazzar highlighted that Fustat Hills Park is one of the largest parks in the Middle East, covering an area of 500 feddans. It occupies a central location in the heart of historic Cairo, previously serving as a waste dump.

He emphasized the political leadership’s keen interest in closely monitoring the project’s execution as part of the capital’s development initiatives and the provision of parks for its residents.

In a related context, Mahmoud Nassar, the Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, conducted an inspection of the project site. He was accompanied by officials from the Greater Cairo Reconstruction Authority, the general consultant for the project, and representatives from the implementing companies. Nassar highlighted the project’s progress and the successful completion of the work within the specified timeframe.

Nassar explained that the project encompasses eight areas and features 14 gates, including main and subsidiary gates that vary between contemporary doors, historical doors, and garden doors. Consideration has been given to increasing the green areas within the project.

The park also offers various activities that aim to revive Egyptian heritage across different eras, including Pharaonic, Coptic, Islamic, and modern periods.

Additionally, it contributes to the restoration of religious and cultural tourism and provides a new recreational outlet for the people of Cairo. These efforts align with the state’s commitment to address climate change and protect the environment.
