Assem El-Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has attended the Aquatech exhibition in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Invest-Gate reports.
The exhibition is renowned as one of the largest events dedicated to water, environment, and waste technologies worldwide. It serves as a platform for learning about the latest advancements in purifying and treating drinking water, wastewater treatment, reusing processed wastewater, and desalination of seawater.
Accompanying El-Gazzar were Sayed Ismail, the Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, and Ihab Khadr, the Chairman of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation.
The minister’s participation in the exhibition is part of the Egyptian government’s efforts to support the local industry, encourage the localization of manufacturing equipment used in water and sanitation projects, and promote increased investments and job opportunities in the private sector.
El-Gazzar’s visit aims to hold meetings with various companies participating in the international exhibition to discuss the latest technologies as well as the challenges and obstacles faced by the water and sanitation sector in Egypt.
He emphasized the importance of localizing industries related to drinking water and sanitation within Egypt. The minister intends to engage with companies that manufacture pipes, pumps, and equipment used in water purification and sanitation processes. The goal is to explore opportunities for cooperation, capacity building, and to stay updated on the latest technological advancements in the field.
The visit to the Aquatech exhibition demonstrates the Egyptian government’s commitment to staying at the forefront of water and sanitation technologies, fostering partnerships with leading companies, and leveraging these advancements to enhance water and sanitation projects within the country.
