El Gazzar Reviews Development of Unsafe Slums, Maspero Triangle

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar held a meeting on May 17 to follow up on the development of Egypt’s unsafe informal areas as well as progress made with regards to Maspero Triangle Development Project, Invest-gate reports.

The meeting was held in the presence of Executive Director of Slum Development Fund Khaled Siddiq as well as the fund’s representatives, along with some ministerial officials, according to a recent press statement.

On his part, Siddiq said 188 unsafe slums were developed so far, with 105,328 housing units completed, alongside 90 informal areas, comprising 90,466 units under construction, according to the statement.

Additionally, the overhauling of 52 unplanned areas has been completed, while 18 areas are underway. Besides, 18 informal markets were fully renovated and 26 others are in the process, which will see 3,645 units.

Concerning Maspero Triangle Development Project, Siddiq said three residential towers are currently under construction, specially tailored to cater to the area’s original residents, including two 16-story towers and another ten-story building.
