El Gazzar Reviews Guideline Draft for Preserving Architectural Character and Supporting Visual Identity

Assem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, holds a meeting with Mohammad Abu Saada, Head of the National Authority for Urban Harmony to review the guideline draft for the foundations and criteria for the preservation of the architectural character and support the visual identity, Invest-Gate reports.

This guide is prepared by the National Authority for Urban Harmony, to be presented to one of the technical committees of the Supreme Council for Planning and Urban Development, and to be submitted to the Council for approval.

For his part, El Gazzar explains that the guideline is being prepared for the implementation of the political leadership’s directives, by setting a reference framework to support the visual identity, through applicable foundations and standards, within the framework of new planning and structural requirements for Egyptian cities, which aim to control and govern urbanization and upgrading The Egyptian urbanization level.

It is emphasized that Egypt has diverse urban patterns, and each region has its distinct identity that was formed over years, but the absence of a comprehensive vision of the identity elements led to a visual distortion and blurring of visual identity for many places. Therefore, this guideline aims to revive the visual identity and urban character.
