El Gazzar Reviews NUCA Planning and Projects Achievements of 2021

Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar reviews the achievements of the planning and projects sector of the New Urban Communities Authority during 2021, Invest-Gate reports.

El Gazzar points out that the sector has contributed to the preparation of plans for about 238,000 housing units as part of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians”, including 200,000 units allocated to the low-income segment, 25,000 units allocated to the middle-income segment, and 13,000 units allocated to luxury housing.

For his part, Waleed Abbas, deputy minister of housing and supervisor of the NUCA Planning and Projects Sector, states, “The sector has contributed to issuing a group of ministerial decisions to adopt planning, division and urban design for 296 projects during 2021, with an average of 25 ministerial decisions per month.”

He further explains that these projects include 55 projects in 4G cities and 12 touristic and urban projects in the northwest coast, adding that these projects will cover 38,000 acres across 12 new cities, and will create 300,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Additionally, Abbas elaborates that the sector contributed to 2,272 application recipients for 480 plots in 2021, with a total area of 5,700 acres, noting that 26% of these lands will be repaid in USD from abroad. In addition, the sector is to create more than 2.4 mn direct and indirect jobs.

As part of the new cities expansion, Abbas highlights that 8,200 acres have been prepared for various activities, including urban, residential, among other services during 2021, while the sector has contributed to the issuance of 690 attribution orders and 1,350 approvals for offering land.

Moreover, Abbas remarks that the central unit of spatial data and digital transformation in the planning and projects sector has held several training courses, in cooperation with Esri North Africa Company in GIS and its applications in new cities, resulting in the training of 80 engineers in the first phase of the training program.
