El Gazzar Says 15 Coastal Towers Underway in New Alamein

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar said 15 coastal towers are underway in New Alamein city, with up to 41 floors and comprising nearly 4,500 units, confirming that the towers’ finishing works are being carried out in parallel with the construction works, Invest-Gate reports.

Besides, soil borings have been initiated on site in order to begin the implementation of the deep and surface foundations of ten additional towers, which will be developed by three different companies at the New Alamein towers area, El Gazzar said in a ministerial statement on April 16.

This came during El Gazzar’s inspection visit to New Alamein, accompanied by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who confirmed that four engineering colleges will be operational by the forthcoming academic year at the new city’s Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, which covers a total area of 62 acres and will include 12 colleges across 34 buildings. the campus’ concrete structure is more than 80% done, while finishing works have commenced a while back.

Meanwhile, about 15 buildings are already completed New Alamein’s downtown area, comprising 1,320 residential units with areas ranging from 90 to 300 square meters, out of the new city’s total 40 buildings.

Additionally, construction works were also inspected at the heritage city, which reached an implementation rate exceeding 40%. According to the statement, the heritage city is located on ​​260 acres and will encompass a total of 70 facilities projects, including a main lake, a central park, a mosque, a church, as well as, the Roman theater, an opera, several commercial buildings, a hotel in the city’s old quarter, and a cinema complex that will start operating as of next summer.

Madbouly also toured the New Alamein’s Latin Quarter, which has witnessed the establishment of 12,000 housing units, in addition to the lakes area, where works have already started at its southern and western edges.

On his part, Head of New Alamein City Authority Osama Abdelghany said the lakes area is set to host international sports competitions such as kayaking, canoeing, and rowing. He confirmed that the Alamein International Rowing Championship will most probably be held at the area during summer 2020.

In addition, the International Coastal Road (Alexandria-Matrouh) has been fully implemented. As for the current highway, it is being relocated and will be considered an internal route, with a speed reduction of 60 kilometers per hour before the upcoming summer season, Abdelghany pointed out.
