During his visit to Tanzania, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar has held a meeting with Doto Biteko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Tanzania, to discuss the progress of the Julius Nyerere dam and hydroelectric station project, Invest-Gate reports.
This project is being implemented by the Egyptian alliance of The Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric companies on the Rufiji River in Tanzania.
The meeting was attended by Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Reconstruction Agency and Chairman of the Project Follow-up Committee; Ahmed El-Assar, Chairman of the Arab Contractors; and Ahmed El-Sewedy, CEO of Elsewedy Electric. This is in addition to Hossam El-Din El-Rifi, First Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Arab Contractors; Wael Hamdi, Vice Chairman of Elsewedy Electric; and officials of the Egyptian coalition implementing the project.
El-Gazzar congratulated Biteko on generating electricity for the first time from the project’s units, after the mechanical and electrical installations of the first generating unit in the project were completed, and its tests were completely successful.
Moreover, El-Gazzar and Biteko reviewed the progress of work on the Julius Nyerere Dam and Hydroelectric Station project, where the completion rate reached about 96%.
