El-Gazzar Vows to Continue Collaboration with GIZ

Assem El-Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to cooperating with development partners from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to implement developmental programs in the water and sanitation sector, Invest-Gate reports.

During a meeting at the Ministry of Housing headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Sayed Ismail, the Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, engaged with representatives of the German Agency to discuss future collaboration aspects.

Also, the focus was on the second phase of the Nile Delta Water Management Program and various upcoming developmental programs aiming to enhance the sector’s performance nationally, in collaboration with GIZ, with representatives from the Ministry of Housing’s Project Management Unit (PMU) present.

Moreover, the German Agency delegation praised the efforts of the Ministry of Housing and the utilities sector in successfully implementing various developmental programs to achieve strategic sector objectives.

Furthermore, Ismail highlighted the significant progress made in project implementation through collaboration with various entities in the water and sanitation field, emphasizing the importance of good planning, regular monitoring, and continuous performance evaluation.

During the meeting, Ismail outlined the sector’s approach, focusing on three main axes: improving water and sanitation services, enhancing operational systems and service providers’ performance, and strengthening the national sector framework.

Discussions included the possibility of cooperation in updating general plans for provinces until 2050, emphasizing the importance of good planning and coordination among stakeholders to maximize the utilization of available funding.

Lastly, the meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a final meeting to clarify all mission outputs and discussions during their visit to Egypt.
