El Gouna, a town and a tourist destination in Egypt built by Orascom, celebrates starting the completion of its golf course in Ancient Sands, adding 9 new holes in line with international standards to provide two golf courses in El Gouna to host a number of Global and local tournaments, Invest-Gate reports.
During the celebration, El Gouna announced the launch of its latest residential project “The Nines”, designed by EDSA, overlooking the golf courses directly. The project spans over an area of 87,000 meters and consists of different types of villas ranging in size from 156 to 190 sqm.
The project has a walk of about two kilometers overlooking the Ancient Sands golf course fit for walking or jogging, besides a cycling path connected to a network of public bike paths in the area.
The project is set to be delivered in two years.
Mohamed Ashour, Head of Commercial & Business Development at Orascom Development Egypt, stresses, “El Gouna supports golf as a global sport adds 9 new holes to complete the Ancient Sands course according to international specifications to provide two courses in the city and a golf academy that offers programs and courses training, while golf courses will be irrigated by recycled water, which reinforces our commitment to environmental sustainability in the city.”
Mohamed Atallah, board member of the Egyptian Golf Federation, says that the development of golf courses in El Gouna enhances sports tourism in Egypt, pointing out that the Ministry of Youth and Sports provides all support for the rise of golf in Egypt and the Federation is preparing to host international golf competitions and championships.
It is worth mentioning that El Gouna will host the Women’s Open International Golf Championship (Nefertiti Cup) from May 20th to 22nd this year. The tournament will witness extensive international participation, as the first round of the tournament will be held in El Gouna golf courses over an area of 6,269 meters due to the distinctiveness of the stadiums and the city with all the necessary components.
