Rashid City’s El Kassara, one of Beheira’s unsafe slums, is having five buildings, comprising 117 housing and nine commercial units, 95% completed, with investments worth EGP 25 mn, Invest-Gate reports.

Following slum-upgrading works carried out on-site since 2016, the entire project is scheduled to be completed and handed over within two months, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar confirmed in an official statement on September 24.

Executive Director of Slum Development Fund Khaled Siddiq revealed that the state was bearing monthly rents for all occupants throughout the project’s implementation until completion and resettlement, according to the statement.

Siddiq noted that another development project is underway in Faraskour, Damietta Governorate, where the government is renovating a three-story commercial complex, at a total cost of EGP 9.5 mn. With a built-up area of 1,471 square meters, the center is 65% finalized, constituting 87 stores that cover nine square meters each.
