Elsewedy Electric Libya awards a contract worth €800 mn to the General Electricity Company of Libya for the construction, procurement, and engineering activities of a power plant in Zliten city, Invest-Gate reports.

The project includes the construction of a 1044-megawatt power plant and other electric interconnection networks.

Under the terms of the contract, Elsewedy Electric Libya and Qatar’s UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Company (UCC) are responsible for preparing the plant’s site and undertaking civil, construction, and infrastructure works.

The Elsewedy-UCC consortium will provide six gas turbines manufactured by Germany’s Siemens Energy for power generation in the project.

The contract also encompasses additional works with separate expenses, including developing connections and networks with Libya’s electricity and gas grids.
