Elsewedy Electric Unit Nods EGP 1.2 bn Works in Cairo

Egytech Cables, a subsidiary of Egypt’s Elsewedy Electric, has inked an EGP 1.2 bn deal to upgrade Cairo Regional Control Center on a turnkey basis, Invest-Gate reports.

The agreement, which was signed with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETE), comes as part of a consortium that includes NARI Group Corporation, Huawei Technologies Corporation, and Huawei Technologies Egypt, Elsewedy Electric indicated in a press release on January 2.

With Egytech’s share is estimated at EGP 583.7 mn, work will commence following the deposition of the advance payment, thereupon scheduled to last for 20 months, the company noted.

The project aims to control and monitor the capital’s electricity grid, which comprises about 200 substations, while also resolving load-balancing issues, according to another ministerial statement.

Elsewedy Electric’s latest commissions involve an EGP 638.4 mn contract with Al Futtaim Commercial and Administrative Centers (AFCAC) for building and engineering works of office buildings at Podium 2 in east Cairo, it revealed in a previous statement in December.
