EDubai-based Emaar Properties has awarded the contract to build Opera Grand Tower in Downtown Dubai, worth AED 500 million to Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company, The National reported quoting Meed.

The tower will be 65-70 storeys high, including 56 residential floors. It will also be part of the new Opera District overlooking the Dubai Opera House, which is due to be open at the end of August.

There is still enough room to take in 8-10 new towers within the Opera District, Regional Design Director of Atkins, the designing and planning company of the district, Janus Rostock said.

The site is expected to have bridges to The Dubai Mall on one side to enhance the area for viewing  Downtown’s lakes and fountains, and on the other hand there is a plugged a space between the Burj Khalifa and the remainder of Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard restaurants and apartment buildings, creating a pedestrian-friendly space, Rostock said.
