France’s NGE to Build 330-Km Rail Line in Egypt

French infrastructure company NGE signs a contract with the Egyptian government to build 330-km high-speed rail roads in the North African country, Invest-Gate reports.

This new rail project in Egypt is set to link 60 cities across the country, increase freight traffic, and ensure approximately 500 mn journeys per year.

NGE provides its expertise, human, and material resources to Egyptian Orascom and Arab Contractors companies.

“We are proud to make a significant contribution to this project, which will provide nearly 90% of the Egyptian population with access to fast and reliable public transport,” Orso Vesperini, COO International and Major Projects at NGE, says.

Works in the project are planned to start in early 2023 and will require the mobilization of up to 500 people on the site.

The project includes installing over 100 turnouts between the cities of Ain Al Sokhna and Borg El Arab, through the 6th of October City.
