GIZ Egypt announces that the its Participatory Infrastructure Project (PIP), which is funded by the European Union and the German Government, implements 29 infrastructure projects in 9 informal settlements in Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubeya Governorates, Invest-Gate reports.
The project is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, represented by the General Organization of Physical Planning.
PIP improves living conditions in informal settlements and upgrades the infrastructure through the participatory approach.
The German Ambassador to Egypt, Frank Hartmann, notes that Egypt is a major partner to Germany, adding that Germany is a key partner in supporting Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
The Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt, Christian Berger, notes that the EU will participate in more joint projects in Egypt.
Under the PIP, GIZ Egypt provides training courses to over 250 participants from the public sector on various development aspects, including integrating and implementing sustainable development goals in planning processes.
