Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar said 437,000 housing units have been implemented in 2019, varying between social, middle-income, and luxurious properties, Invest-Gate reports.
The units also involved residences being developed on lands offered by the ministry to citizens of all income levels, in addition to social housing projects underway in partnership with the private sector, El Gazzar said in a ministerial statement on December 31.
With investments totaled at EGP 10.1 bn, merely 54 potable water projects have been established nationwide last year, with a capacity of 3 mn cubic meters per day, alongside 76 sanitation plants at total capacity 1.3 mn cubic meters per day. Another 165 sewerage projects have been built in some rural areas, at costs worth EGP 2.6 bn, he noted.
In line with the state’s efforts to eliminate congestion density in Egypt, particularly in Cairo, the ministry has carried out 25 road projects in 2019, extending 732 kilometers and coming with EGP 8 bn worth of investments.
