Gov’t Builds 9 New Sanitation Projects in Alexandria

Head of Egypt’s Central Authority for Potable Water and Wastewater (CAPWW) Hassan El Far said a total of nine wastewater projects are being implemented in Alexandria, at a combined cost of EGP 3.179 bn, Invest-Gate reports.

At a total capacity of nearly 73,000 cubic meters per day, the new additions will serve 460,000 people living in the coastal city, El Far revealed in a ministerial statement on July 14.

The announcement came during a meeting chaired by Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar to follow up on the ongoing sanitation and drinking water projects, alongside a number of other officials.

On his part, Chairman and Managing Director of Alexandria Sanitary and Drainage Company (ASDCO) Mahmoud Nafie said wastewater projects provide services to roughly 92% of  Alexandria’s total population, noting that sewage is treated through 18 treatment plants.
