Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar, announced that the 10th of Ramadan’s El Andalus neighborhood has so far seen USD 4.4 bn (EGP 68.72 bn) worth of investments in social housing units, Invest-Gate reports.
A total of 11,380 units, within 569 buildings, are being implemented in El Andalus, of which 2,800 were completed with its facilities and will be delivered soon, the minister noted in an official statement released on March 4. The remaining units are completed by 60%, he added.
El Gazzar highlighted that the total value of investments includes the cost of the project’s utilities underway, the statement added.
On his part, Khaled Shahin, head of the 10th of Ramadan City Development Authority, added that works are ongoing on a number of facilities including two schools, four nurseries, three commercial malls, and two medical centers, with total investments worth EGP 120 mn.
The authority is keeping a close eye on the social housing project; it has assigned the project managers to continuously follow up on the work progress and make sure the development is on course to be finished as scheduled and to a high standard, Shahin asserted.
Last year, the ministry has managed to implement 437,000 housing units, varying between social, middle-income, and luxurious properties, Invest-Gate reports.
