The Housing and Transport Ministries have invited Egyptian and international companies to apply for pre-qualification for a railway line that connects the Red Sea’s Ain Sokhna with the Mediterranean’s New El-Alamein City, Invest-Gate reports.
The pre-qualification should include engineering designs as well as plans for funding, implementation, operation, and maintenance, according to a Ministry of Housing statement.
The project aims to develop the east coast of the Red Sea, the Suez Canal Development axis, Wadi Al Natroun, Al Dabaa axis, and New El-Alamein City.
The companies should apply their pre-qualification documents, which include their previous experiences in similar projects and financial capacities, before January 14, 2018.
The project, which is set to have a speed of 250 kilometers per hour, aims to eventually link the New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo, and the new cities through a high-speed rail network.
