Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar has mandated the provision of 768 social housing units in Minya and Fayoum as temporary isolation housing or wards for Coronavirus patients, Invest-Gate reports.
Provided to house people ordered to self-isolate/quarantine due to exposure to COVID-19, the fully-furnished units are well-equipped with medical facilities to accommodate infected persons, CEO of Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund (SHMFF) Mai Abdel Hamid explained in a ministerial statement on June 15.
Upon the completion of the isolation period and negative test results, coordination between the Ministry of Housing and Minya and Fayoum governorates will take place to disinfect and sterilize these units, Abdel Hamid further stated, noting that the brand-new flats were never formerly dwelled nor allocated to other citizens.
Coming in line with the ministry’s efforts to curb virus spread and omit COVID-19 disruption, the accommodations have been handpicked to ensure as much distance between neighboring residents as possible, therefore promoting social distancing and contactless interactions, the official concluded.
