Planning Minister Hala El-Saeed said the government has allocated EGP 508 mn for developing the country’s cultural sector as part of its plan for FY 2018/2019, representing a 14% increase from the prior fiscal year, Invest-Gate reports.
Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS), including the first-year plan of 2018/2019, targets developing archaeological sites and cultural services nationwide, El-Saeed revealed in an official statement on October 10.
The planning minister revealed that EGP 43 mn were allocated for the renovation of the Revolutionary Command Council Museum, EGP 40 mn for the higher institute of child arts, and EGP 31 mn for Oasis Community Center in 6th of October City.
Currently, the government’s plan comprises investments in some key projects in Egypt’s cultural sector, including revamping Saraya El Gezira and Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil museums, in addition to the Arabic Music Institute, the Higher Institute of Art Criticism, and High Institute of Folk Arts, according to the statement.
