Grand Egyptian Museum to be Finalized in 2 Weeks: PM

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced that the construction works at the Grand Egyptian Museum will be finalized within two weeks, Invest-Gate reports.

Speaking at a press conference at the project site on Saturday, June 23, Madbouly noted that the museum will help increase tourist and cultural attraction to Egypt, describing what has been achieved by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority as a “success story”, according to the State Information Service (SIS).

The authority has increased the project’s implementation rate to 78% in one year, up from 17%, which Madbouly says “it goes in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to complete the project by the end of 2018”, SIS adds.

Spanning an area of nearly 500,000 square meters, the Grand Egyptian Museum is the largest in the world, gathering the artifacts of Egypt’s ancient civilization, Minister of Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani highlights in the conference.

Al-Anani states that the museum will comprise about 100,000 artifacts, of which 50,000 will be displayed and the rest to be conserved, according to SIS.
