Hadayieq Announces September Opening for Giza Zoo and Orman Garden Following Major Redevelopment

Hadayieq, the company responsible for the management, development, and operation of Giza Zoo and Orman Garden, has announced that the two historic sites will officially reopen to the public in September 2025 following extensive renovation efforts, Invest-Gate reports.

The announcement was made during the company’s participation in ITB Berlin 2025, the world’s leading travel trade show, held from March 4 to 6.

During the exhibition, Hadayieq unveiled the final design of the redevelopment project, emphasizing its commitment to providing a world-class recreational experience while preserving the historical and environmental significance of both sites. The company has partnered with leading global consultants and specialists to ensure the highest standards of animal care, heritage preservation, and botanical conservation, aiming to restore the gardens as premier leisure and ecotourism destinations.

Mohamed Kamel, Chairman of Hadayieq, stated: “This project marks a significant transformation in Egypt’s tourism and entertainment industry. We are blending innovation and modernization while preserving the deep-rooted history of these iconic sites. Our goal is to offer an integrated experience that combines entertainment, education, and environmental conservation, positioning the gardens as a must-visit destination not only in the region but globally.”

Additionally, Abdel Fattah Fezzy, Managing Director of Hadayieq, highlighted that the company’s second consecutive participation in ITB Berlin underscores its commitment to innovation in tourism and recreation. He also revealed that Giza Zoo has secured the hosting rights for the Pan-African Association of Zoos and Aquaria (PAAZA) Conference for the first time, a milestone that cements Egypt’s standing in wildlife conservation and zoo management.

To enhance visitor experience, Hadayieq has introduced several new attractions within Giza Zoo, including the Giza Zoo Safari Glamping Hotel, which offers an immersive luxury stay surrounded by nature. The Zoo Antique Bazaar will feature a curated selection of handmade souvenirs and collectibles, alongside a variety of restaurants, cafes, and leisure facilities.

Giza Zoo, originally inaugurated during the reign of Khedive Ismail, remains the largest urban zoo in the region, spanning 112 feddans and housing over 186 species of mammals, birds, and reptiles, as well as rare trees and plants. It holds the distinction of being the first zoo in Africa and the Middle East and the third-oldest zoo in the world.
