Approximately half a million social housing units are currently being implemented in different phases, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Mostafa Madbouly at the second international conference for cooperative housing, reported Invest-Gate.

Madbouly urged the cooperative, private, and public sectors to combine all efforts and work on various schemes in order to promote social housing developments. “ We aim to expand the cooperative housing sector to produce more than 30% of cooperative housing in all projects,” he noted.

To meet that goal, the ministry continues to offer lands for housing projects in the new cities and governorates, develop the current legislation and laws of cooperative social housing, and combine several sectors together such as agriculture, production, and other industries.
