HDB to Establish 294 Housing Units in Port Said’s Jawhara Project

Housing and Development Bank (HDB) has signed an agreement with Port Said Governorate to establish 294 new social housing units in Jawhara project, Invest-Gate reports.

“The agreement is part of the additional heights approved by the governorate to increase floors of the existing buildings with an extra floor,” HDB said in an official statement.

Renovations of the existing units are underway, including installing elevators in all buildings and the refurbishment of the units’ facades, HDB noted, adding that the bank has already delivered the first and second phases of the project with a total of 5,000 units.

The efficiency of the entire governorate will be boosted; a commercial mall will be set up to serve the country’s citizens, and the existing insurance and service systems will be revamped into modern residential communities, Port Said Governor Adel Al Ghadhban noted in the statement.

The agreement was signed between the Port Said governor and HDB Chairman Fathy El-Sebai.

Established in 1998, Jawhara is one of the projects that has created a qualitative boom in Port Said – one of the first governorates that witnessed HDB’s development projects since 1982.
