Housing, Environment Ministers Discuss Proposals for Managing, Operating the Great Transfiguration Site Project

Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, has convened a meeting at the Ministry of Housing’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) to discuss proposals for managing and operating the Great Transfiguration site project above the Land of Peace in St. Catherine city, Invest-Gate reports.

The primary focus was on ensuring that the project’s activities align with the surrounding environment, adhering to the principles and foundations of sustainable development while optimizing the utilization of the region’s distinctive resources and components. Officials from both ministries were present during the meeting.

El-Gazzar emphasized the project’s alignment with the surrounding environment, with the implementation of development work guided by environmental standards to achieve sustainable development. The project also includes enhancing the efficiency of existing urbanization in St. Catherine city, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to develop the city, elevate its status, and derive maximum benefit from its archaeological, religious, and environmental components, in harmony with sustainable development trends.

El-Gazzar highlighted that the Ministry of Housing, through the Central Agency for Reconstruction and with funding from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), is executing the comprehensive plan for the development of the Great Transfiguration site on the Land of Peace in St. Catherine city.

The plan was developed collaboratively by the Ministry in coordination with all relevant parties. Its objectives include establishing a spiritual shrine on the mountains surrounding the Sacred Valley, positioning it as a global destination for spiritual, mountain, medical, and environmental tourism.

The plan also entails providing comprehensive tourist and entertainment services for visitors and developing the city and its environs while preserving the pristine natural environment and its visual appeal.

El-Gazzar further explained that the first phase of development work on the Great Transfiguration site is nearing completion, encompassing the implementation of 14 projects.
