Housing Minister, Chinese Embassy Official Discuss Status of Joint Projects with Chinese Contractors

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar has met with Zhang Tao, Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, to discuss the status of joint projects between the Ministry of Housing and Chinese contracting companies in urban development fields, Invest-Gate reports.

Abdul Khaliq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, and Ambassador Hassan El-Laithy, the Ministry of Housing’s Advisor for International Cooperation, attended the meeting.

El-Gazzar welcomed Tao, emphasizing the strength and depth of Egyptian-Chinese relations across various sectors. He highlighted Egypt’s eagerness to collaborate with major Chinese contracting companies in implementing national projects, notably the Central Business District project in the New Administrative Capital, being executed in cooperation with the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC).

Moreover, El-Gazzar underscored the political leadership’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Chinese companies, aiming to boost bilateral economic relations. He appreciated CSCEC’s efforts in advancing the Central Business District project and looked forward to its successful completion.

Also, during the meeting, discussions revolved around the executive status of the Central Business District project, its delivery timelines, and a review of the Downtown Towers project in New Alamein City, which is also being undertaken in collaboration with CSCEC.

Furthermore, Tao affirmed the Chinese political leadership’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Egypt, particularly in economic relations and joint projects between Egypt and Chinese companies.

Notably, Tao expressed delight regarding the recent visit of the Minister of Housing and his accompanying delegation to China to explore the latest management and operation systems of central business districts.
