Housing Minister: Commitment to Building Sustainable Fourth-Generation Smart Cities to Address Citizens’ Needs

Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, confirmed that the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Housing, is working to establish and develop sustainable fourth-generation smart cities, Invest-Gate reports.

These cities will meet the needs of citizens in all aspects of life through technological advancements and provide an environmentally friendly digital environment that stimulates learning and creativity, while gradually transforming previous generations of new cities.

This announcement was made during his speech at the press conference to launch the National Strategy for Smart Cities, as part of the activities on the third day of the World Urban Forum.

He stated, “Today, we are honored to announce the details of launching the National Strategy for Smart Cities in response to various challenges. The strategy aims to develop previous generations of new cities, as well as many existing and future cities. Today marks the beginning of more future partnerships for sustainable urban development.”

El Sherbini added that Egyptian smart cities are carefully planned, interconnected, and participatory, providing residents with a better quality of life by implementing sustainable development and building economic, social, and environmental resilience.

These cities will benefit from knowledge, innovation, digitalization, and technological progress in all aspects of urban life. They will also enhance the quality of life for all, promote economic prosperity, attract investments and talent, and achieve environmental balance and sustainability.
