Housing Minister Convenes Supreme Coordination Committee Meeting, Directs New Cities Authorities Heads

Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a regular meeting of the Supreme Coordination Committee, attended by deputies and assistants of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) and heads of new cities authorities, Invest-Gate reports.

The meeting aimed to follow up on the progress of work at NUCA and its authorities.

El Sherbini emphasized the importance of this periodic meeting in boosting work rates and facilitating the exchange of experiences and expertise among the new cities authorities.

El Sherbini pointed out that the agenda addressed several topics and provided an opportunity to unify thoughts and objectives, review details of ongoing projects, and discuss future visions. It also served as the primary channel for communication with all authority heads to raise and discuss issues and challenges, work to resolve them, and consider all proposals for implementation.

El Sherbini emphasized the need to implement projects in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to localize industry, noting that there are entities manufacturing most of the requirements for urban projects within Egypt.

He directed that local product be prioritized in various projects, maximizing resources and revenues from equipment while boosting work rates.

El Sherbini stated that the city authorities have a role in monitoring all work and procedures related to the projects being implemented and highlighted the importance of coordination with all relevant parties.

He directed the establishment of a specialized unit within NUCA to oversee these procedures. Each authority head is also responsible for evaluating the performance of companies working on projects, ensuring adherence to security and safety regulations, project timelines, and other standards, and addressing any instances of negligence.

The meeting focused on resource management, with El Sherbini emphasizing the need to maximize revenues while rationalizing expenditures. He instructed the preparation of monthly revenue and expenditure statements and highlighted the importance of timely delivery of housing units, supported by weekly progress reports.

The discussion included plans for automating services across government agencies to enhance citizen access. Preparations for the summer season were reviewed, ensuring adequate water supplies and irrigation for green spaces.

Additionally, the status of new projects, “Diarna” and “Zilal,” was examined, with a call to expedite their completion.

Furthermore, land regularization requests were to be reviewed. El Sherbini stressed the importance of maintenance and communication with legislative bodies.
