Housing Minister Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with Germany’s BAMAG in Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment Projects

Eng. Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, received representatives from Germany’s BAMAG, one of the leading global companies specializing in the design, implementation, and operation of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, to explore opportunities for joint cooperation and benefit from advanced German expertise and technologies in implementing utilities sector projects, Invest-Gate reports .

The meeting was attended by Eng. Ahmed Omran, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities Affairs, along with officials from the ministry.

Developing Water and Wastewater Systems and Expanding the Use of Advanced Technologies

At the beginning of the meeting, Eng. Randa El Menshawy emphasized that the Ministry of Housing places great importance on developing drinking water and wastewater systems, considering them key pillars for achieving sustainable development.

She highlighted that the Egyptian state is implementing an ambitious program to expand utilities projects while relying on local production and the latest systems and technologies that contribute to enhancing operational efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.

The Minister added that the ministry welcomes cooperation with international companies that possess distinguished expertise, stressing the importance of technology transfer, industrial localization, and capacity building to support the state’s plans for advancing the utilities sector and providing more efficient and sustainable services to citizens.

BAMAG Highlights Water and Wastewater Expertise and Explores Future Cooperation Opportunities

During the meeting, BAMAG presented its extensive experience in the design, implementation, and operation of drinking water plants, as well as industrial and domestic wastewater treatment facilities. The company also reviewed its projects in Egypt, including the drinking water treatment plant in the 10th of Ramadan City, in addition to the rehabilitation and efficiency improvement of several existing plants.

The discussions also addressed potential cooperation opportunities for implementing a number of future projects across Egypt.
For their part, representatives of the German company expressed their appreciation for the significant progress witnessed by Egypt’s utilities sector, affirming their interest in expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Housing and participating in the implementation of new projects aimed at developing water and wastewater infrastructure.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain continuous coordination between both sides to explore areas of mutual cooperation and examine opportunities for implementing drinking water and wastewater projects, in line with Egypt’s vision of achieving comprehensive development and upgrading infrastructure across various sectors.
