Sherif El Sherbini, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, accompanied Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh Region in Saudi Arabia, and his delegation on a tour of the Egyptian pavilion at the exhibition associated with the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12), Invest-Gate reports.
This visit occurred on the sidelines of the activities of the second day of WUF12.
El Sherbini warmly welcomed Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf and his delegation to Egypt, their “second country,” emphasizing their participation in WUF12. He underscored the profound relations between the two fraternal nations, highlighting Egypt’s willingness to share its extensive urban development expertise with Saudi Arabia.
The minister elaborated on Egypt’s diverse and robust urban experience, which includes the establishment and advancement of numerous fourth-generation cities—such as “smart sustainable cities” like the New Administrative Capital and New Alamein—alongside significant developments in water supply, sanitation projects, and the provision of hundreds of thousands of housing units catering to various societal segments.
He also mentioned Egypt’s initiatives in developing unsafe areas and implementing alternative housing units for their residents.
In response, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf expressed admiration for Egypt’s urban achievements, describing them as pioneering on a global scale and representing a significant leap across various sectors, ultimately enhancing citizens’ quality of life.
