Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has delivered a speech at the 9th Builders of Egypt Forum on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Invest-Gate reports.
He expressed appreciation to the African Union of Construction Contractors for hosting this significant event, which serves as a platform to unite diverse expertise and explore opportunities for collaboration in development.
El Sherbini underscored Egypt’s commitment to urban development within the framework of Egypt Vision 2030. The primary objective of this vision is to enhance the quality of life for Egyptian citizens, elevate living standards, and align with global initiatives such as the New Urban Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11, aiming to create inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities.
Guided by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt has elevated urban development to a national priority, addressing longstanding challenges while fostering economic and urban expansion. These initiatives are designed to attract both local and foreign investment.
The Minister highlighted Egypt’s achievements in executing various development projects encompassing housing, urban renewal in unsafe areas, the establishment of new cities, and water and wastewater initiatives. These successes were made possible through effective public-private partnerships and collaboration with construction firms that have garnered significant experience from their involvement in national projects.
El Sherbini emphasized that the forum’s theme, “Opportunities for Egyptian Companies in Regional Development Plans,” mirrors the forthcoming priorities of the Ministry of Housing. In addition to Egypt’s endeavors to export real estate, its extensive experience across diverse projects positions it to export construction and building expertise. The Minister reiterated his backing for Egyptian companies to expand their footprint in African and Arab markets in the near future.
Furthermore, El Sherbini highlighted the signing of several cooperation agreements with African nations this year, spanning various sectors such as construction and real estate development. Egypt is slated to host the African Ministerial Meeting during the World Urban Forum, providing a platform to showcase the Egyptian experience and foster future collaborative opportunities.
In conclusion, El Sherbini, representing Prime Minister Madbouly, urged private sector entities engaged in urban development to participate in the World Urban Forum and continue working alongside the Egyptian government to execute the projects of the New Republic.
