At the start of his current visit to China, Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, inspected Shanghai’s Central Business District (CBD) project, which spans approximately one million square meters, Invest-Gate reports.
The visit aimed to review the best operating and maintenance systems in preparation for the CBD’s launch in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
He was accompanied by several ministry officials and representatives from the China State Construction Corporation (CSCEC).
El Sherbini and his entourage toured the projects in Shanghai’s Central Business District and received briefings on the project management and operation systems, which include administrative, commercial, entertainment, residential, and corporate uses, all served by various public transportation options.
During the visit, El Sherbini received a detailed explanation of the Shanghai CBD. Officials from the state-owned construction company CSCEC explained that the total investment in the project exceeds $4.2 bn, encompassing a total construction area of approximately one million square meters.
The project includes a high-rise administrative building, modern shopping centers, the China Overseas International Center’s Grand Theater, urban green corridors, and other key business facilities.
El Sherbini reviewed the company’s operational, maintenance, and marketing systems in the region, as well as several projects implemented by CSCEC in various countries.
He toured the commercial, administrative, and hotel buildings, as well as the mall located in Shanghai’s CBD, inquiring about the details and prices of units for sale or rental. He also received a comprehensive explanation of the security, safety, and fire-fighting systems in the various buildings.
El Sherbini visited the area’s main control room, which features screens displaying all entrances and exit gates monitored by numerous cameras covering the area and transmitting real-time images. It was noted that recorded footage is stored for several months for future retrieval. He listened to an explanation of the project’s smart control devices, which manage lighting, air conditioning, and other services.
El Sherbini and his entourage inspected the administrative building in the CBD, a 230-square-meter tower with 52 floors. They viewed a video presentation detailing the implementation stages, highlighting the area’s administrative, commercial, residential, and hotel buildings. The presentation also noted the several gardens surrounding the Shanghai CBD project, resembling the Green River that encircles the CBD in the New Administrative Capital.
Additionally, El Sherbini inspected the commercial center in the area, the company’s largest commercial project in Shanghai, which is also operated by CSCEC. He listened to a detailed explanation of its components, management, operational systems, and marketing, which has achieved significant success.
