Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting yesterday with leading real estate developers to discuss the National Green and Sustainable Urban Strategy and steps to establish an Egyptian real estate export platform. Senior officials from the ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority also attended, Invest-Gate reports.
El Sherbini stressed that the strategy is a key pillar of Egypt’s sustainable development vision and green economy agenda, set in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He highlighted that the ministry is also prioritizing the promotion of Egyptian real estate through a dedicated digital platform, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and other stakeholders, to enhance governance and digital transformation in the sector.
The meeting reviewed the main components of the green urban strategy, including requirements for sustainable building and proposed incentives for developers who comply with its standards. Incentives will range from tax exemptions and financing facilities to procedural simplifications, priority land allocation, and certified environmental ratings. Criteria include the use of water- and energy-saving construction materials, recycled resources, and efficient lighting systems.
Discussions also covered progress on the real estate export platform, which will ensure secure unit exchanges, internationally recognized documentation standards, multilingual and multi-currency support, and safeguards for investors.
Developers expressed appreciation to El-Sherbini for his efforts to support the sector, praising the green urban strategy and the real estate export platform as vital tools to stimulate investment and advance Egypt’s real estate industry.
El-Sherbini concluded by instructing that developers be provided with the full strategy document to share feedback and recommendations, aiming to accelerate implementation and expand its impact across new cities and communities.
