Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has convened an extensive meeting with the heads of the new cities’ agencies to oversee the implementation procedures of Law No. 187 of 2023 pertaining to reconciling certain building violations and formalizing their status, along with its corresponding executive regulations, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting was attended by notable figures including Walid Abbas, Assistant Minister of Housing at the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA); Amin Ghoneim, Vice President of NUCA for the Development and Urban Development Sector; Nafisa Mahmoud Hashem, Minister Advisor for Housing and Utilities Affairs; Mostafa El Naggar, Head of the Housing and Utilities Sector within the ministry; and officials from NUCA.
El Sherbini issued a directive to allow law-abiding citizens who adhere to issued licenses without violations to apply for an increase in building ratios for rooftop structures. This gesture acknowledges the citizens’ compliance with licensing requirements. Submissions for such requests will commence on the first of December.
Emphasizing the developmental aspect of the reconciliation law, El Sherbini underscored its objective to foster a refined and stable urban landscape, particularly in new cities. The initiative aims to address a significant number of building violations, thereby streamlining the workload of new cities’ agencies by reducing the need for violation removal campaigns. This strategic shift enables agencies to focus efforts on developmental ventures, utilizing financial resources for sustainable projects within new cities.
El Sherbini urged Ministry, NUCA, and New Cities’ agency officials to intensify awareness campaigns, emphasizing the importance of submitting reconciliation requests for building violations. This entails preparing media materials, television features, and disseminating information across diverse communication channels. The overarching goal is to motivate citizens to engage in the reconciliation process, ultimately aiding in the systematic control and management of the urban framework as envisioned by the law.
